Kollam is one of those rare combinations of beautiful scenery and historical significance. It is located on the shores of the Arabian Sea complimenting its scenery. Usually, when someone plans to visit Kerala, most of them tend to choose the neighbouring places like Alleppey and Varkala.

Because of this reason, Kollam tends to be underrated among the travelling community. But don’t let that stop you from visiting Kollam. You’ll be amazed by the versatility this place offers to you.

Best time to visit

Kollam has a tropical climate that sort of suits for visiting throughout the year. But if you ask me the best time of the year to visit, then it has to be the post-monsoon and winter months of October to March. These months are perfect for anyone who is visiting either for a peaceful trip or for outdoor activities.

Monsoon can be beautiful too but beware of heavy rainfalls which are kind of frequent in Kerala every year. If you just want to be laid back and enjoy a peaceful time here, then no doubt about visiting during the Monsoon season. In fact, you can enjoy the beautiful lakes and lush landscapes more in Monsoon time.

When it comes to the Summer season, it reaches above the 35 c temperature. It can be quite humid too being the coastal district. So I don’t recommend coming here during summer unless you want to enjoy the Kollam festivals.
